I’m sorry, this is supposed to be a turtle?
No Ninja, No Ninja, No Ninja…NO.
As the summer movie season rages on, we’re presented with the latest look at the Michael Bay-produced reboot of beloved kids property Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
The production itself, directed by Jonathan Liebsman (Darkness Falls) has been mired in controversy almost from the beginning as news surrounding the production had the turtles being aliens, among other rumors.
Criticism hit a fever pitch with the release of the teaser trailer a couple months back, showing just how radical the turtle update actually was, as the titular characters sported more human features than ever before. Turtles with lips? Are you serious? I mean they’re TURTLES. And yes, I’m saying this with full knowledge that I’m a 36-year-old man who’s splitting hairs over fictional characters. I mean, I’m bitching about humanoid turtles who can walk and talk and do ninja things…because they have lips.
Well they also seem to have noses too, and that’s bullshit.
At any rate the new trailer was released today, and by the looks of it, there’s no way this movie won’t be a piece of shit…unless it’s not, but I find that to be highly unlikely. Take that from the authority of an adult criticizing a flick for kids.
