Nothing More Dangerous Than a Pair of Perfect Tits: MPAA Bans Sin City Poster For Being Too Phenomenal

Nobody puts Eva's tits in a corner.

Nobody puts Eva’s tits in a corner.

Sometimes I think our priorities are completely screwed up. In a decision that makes sense to no one but Puritans and jealous housewives, A poster advertising the upcoming Sin City sequel, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, has been banned by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) because the featured star Eva Green is pictured holding a cocked gun.

Nope, that’s not it at all.

The reason this awesome poster is getting the kibosh is due to Green appearing wearing little more than a very revealing thin gown, which in the words of the MPAA, the poster was banned “for nudity – curve of under breast and dark nipple/areola circle visible through sheer gown.”

Tits got this poster banned, not the fact that she holding a gun, clearly ready to shoot something. Personally, and I know this isn’t a surprise in the least, but there’s absolutely nothing wrong with this photo. While you can clearly make out that Eva Green has breasts, she is a woman, so that sort of thing is to be expected, right?

The film, co-directed by Robert Rodriguez and Sin City creator Frank Miller is guaranteed to be as lurid and violent as both the source material, and the original 2005 film. That there’s violence and nudity in the film is no shock, but what continues to bother the hell out of me (and hopefully most of you), is the idea that of all the controversy a photo like this contains, the thing that completely sends it over the edge are the tits.

I have always enjoyed equal amounts of sex and violence, because I’m part of the Patriarchy, but the way we view guns as somehow less offensive than tits continues to blow my mind. We know how bad things can get with a gun, stories reinforce this fact every day, but to demonize the female form only forces people (read: men) to covet it not as something natural, but something forbidden that must be possessed for its illicit nature, which brings with it all the baggage that ends up pissing women off and forcing them to live in fear of men.

We cannot objectify women (and we really shouldn’t), but somehow sexualizing violence is A-OK. As Americans, we are in a years-long love affair with the gun, because the Constitution somehow is read as making that sort of thing OK. Sure, I’m banging a drum that people everywhere are banging, so I know I’m not adding anything new, but if all this leads to you appreciating just how goddamn hot Eva Green is…well then my work is surely done.

In the meantime, enjoy this trailer for the upcoming Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.
