Just because a man has no legs, doesn’t mean he can’t defend his home and beat a little ass at the same time. One burglar learned this harsh lesson first hand as he attempted to rob the home of a double amputee in Ohio.
Roy Davis was hanging out in his wheelchair outside his home in Dayton last Saturday when he heard screaming. The screams came from his wife, who returned home from work to see the inside of the house completely ransacked, with an intruder running from her bedroom.
Davis, who normally uses prosthetic legs, rolled into the house where he grabbed a liquor bottle and began to knock the shit out of the alleged burglar, identified as Joseph Copeland. Once Copeland realized he was getting his ass kicked by a man with no legs (how’s THAT for irony?), he came to his senses and began to fight back, but he was no match for Davis, largely because, as police would later report, he was drunk.
When police finally made it to the house, they found Davis, sans legs, sitting on top of a bloodied Copeland, still holding the liquor bottle he just beat him with. Police think that Copeland saw an opportunity by sneaking into the house through an unlocked window because some drug dealers he knew told him there was cash in the house, and he didn’t expect anyone to be home at the time.
Regardless of his disability, Davis would do the same thing all over again.
“I want to protect my own family,” he told local news station WHIO. “I don’t care if (the landlord installs a security system) or not, this is my family, and I want my family to be protected, so I’m going to do it for myself.”
As for Joseph Copeland, “getting rolled up on” will have a completely new meaning from now on.
