Myster is a local chain of high-end smoke accessories in the Maryland and D.C. area that recently had a run-in with Maryland county police in their Bethesda location.

This weekend they are having a huge seed and accessory sale to raise money to fight their case in court. They are offering up seeds of their infamous strain developed by Myster Genetics called Mumbo Sauce.

The sale is from 4:20 PM EST until 7:10 PM EST on Saturday, February 27th (today) in Washington, D.C. at their Petworth shop called Fogden by Myster at 4807 Georgia Avenue in Northwest DC.

Proceeds will go to legal fees incurred from Montgomery County Police raiding their Bethesda shop “because we were selling CBD oil derived from USDA certified Organic Hemp,” according to their Facebook event.

The owner of Myster, Davis Clayton Kiyo told me it’s a double standard and that they are hopeful that their case will serve as a vessel to clarify and protect shops like his in Maryland from being raided for hemp products. “Grocery and health food stores selling hemp are not raided like we were, even though they carry hemp products,” said Davis.

Cannabis and one its main compound Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is illegal in the state of Maryland. The hemp plant is a cousin of cannabis and shares much of its molecular mapping. Therefore, although hemp tests high in Cannabidiol (CBD) it will also contain trace amounts of THC, both of which are components of the cannabis plant.

Hemp seeds are commonly sold in health food stores around the country, however, concerns remain on how the trace amounts of THC will react with drug tests. THC’s federally illegal status means most law officials and military soldiers are dissuaded from eating hemp in any shape or form due to lack of clinical studies.
