Asshole In Australia: Kanye West Badgers Disabled Fans During Show

Some people just can’t help but be rotten douchebags.

Alleged Gay Fish and all-around l’enfant terrible Kanye West once again showed his value as a human being while performing at Qantas Credit Union Arena in Sydney, Australia Friday night, after stopping his show to go after a couple fans who wouldn’t stand up on command.

“I decided I can’t do this song – I can’t do the rest of this show – until everybody stand up,” West told the crowd. “I’m going to see you if you ain’t standing up, believe me.”

One problem: one fan in question was in a wheelchair; the other was sporting a prosthetic leg.

Because his demands were more important than giving the audience the performance they paid good money for, Kanye turned to the rest of the crowd to ensure that the still-seated fans had a good reason not to acquiesce to his command, pointing to the area where the fans were at. Of course, Kanye sycophants (or people happy that they themselves weren’t being singled out) started chanting “stand up, stand up”until one of the disabled fans waved his prosthetic leg in the air as proof.

Thanks to the magic of YouTube, the rest of the world who knows better than to give this selfish bastard money can see his bullshit for what it is:

Even better, Kanye sent one of his bodyguards to actually check to see whether or not those seated were actually disabled.”I can’t do this show until everybody stand up,” he insisted. “Unless you got a handicap pass, and you get special parking and shit.”

The fact that this insufferable asshole even threatened to remove the fans for not standing up tells you pretty much everything you need to know about Kanye West as a performer and a person. For him, his shows aren’t entertainment for you, they’re opportunities for crowds to let him know how amazing he is. That’s right, in the mind of Kanye, fans are paying him to tell him he’s awesome, and if that doesn’t happen, if his vibe is ruined, then…well, you don’t belong in the concert.

Artists and musicians can be mercurial by default, but the idea of putting on a show is to put on a show. You have your music, you have your plan, and what you do, or are supposed to do, is entertain. For Kanye, this isn’t an isolated incident. Stopping shows to vent frustrations or to command the audience to essentially entertain his every whim is par for the course for this guy. The question is, why should it be? What is so broken inside of him that he just can’t perform?

A day will come, probably sooner rather than later, where audiences will get fed up with his bratty artist act and simply walk away. While Kanye’s talent is evident, the way in which he throws his weight around far exceeds his value as an entertainer. Performers like him don’t have to kiss their fans’ asses, but at the very least, they should give them what they paid for and entertain them, regardless of whether they stand up or sit down.

At the end of the day, the music will remain the same, just like the asshole performing the song.

UPDATE: In typical Kanye West fashion, he chose to take the path of the persecuted at his next concert in Brisbane on Monday night local time (just a few hours ago), slamming his critics in the only way he knows”

And to show that he’s not all sphincter and anus, Kanye decides to show a little beneficence to his undeserving audience:

What a guy.
